That Wānaka Tree, New Zealand
Yes, you’re seeing it right, that’s a tree growing in a lake.
They say this is the most famous tree in New Zealand, I believe it because there were so many tourists taking pictures of it and with it.
That Wānaka Tree was originally planted over 80 years ago, completely by accident. Someone built a fence around the lake and used a branch from a nearby willow tree for a fence post. That branch kept growing, took root and became a full tree and survived even as it was slowly surrounded by the lake.
I’ve always read that “life always finds a way” but it’s rare to see it literally. It’s a beautiful reminder that if you keep pushing, you will grow. Even the smallest beginnings can make a big impact.
