Silverthorne, Colorado – A Beautiful Mountain Town
I love watching the sunrise (when I can wake up for it) because you can literally see the start of a new day. This sunrise is from Silverthorne, Colorado, a beautiful mountain town in the Rockies.
You want to know more about Silverthorne?
No worries I looked it up so you don’t have to. It was named after Judge Marshall Silverthorn, a pioneer in Summit County’s mining era. In 1881, he staked a 160 acre mining claim along the Blue River. The land later passed to his daughters and then several mining companies.
It became a town officially in 1967 with a population of about 400 people. Today there are about 4,400 people in the town and from what I could find, there is no more mining in the region. But you know what they still have? Mountains for days.
